Dr. David Miller, Jr. knew by the time he was just 14 years of age he wanted to be a veterinarian. He left behind a promising future in college sports to attend The University of Tennessee – Knoxville Campus where he received his DVM in 1986. One year later he started his own small and large animal practice back home in East Tennessee, being the first to offer advanced medicine and surgical techniques; including equine breeding management and artificial insemination.
In 2007, Dr. Miller’s passion in veterinary medicine transcended to emergency and critical care, where he continues to dedicate hours of training and education learning the newest advances in veterinary technology to better diagnose emergency and trauma cases and perform specialized surgeries and treatments. Dr. Miller has been licensed in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida, and is a Certified Veterinarian Chiropractic Provider specializing in soft tissue surgery and orthopedic manipulation. He also is an acupuncturist and is trained in rehabilitation medicine. He is currently training in Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine. Prior to joining the Ocean Animal Hospital team, he worked as a Medical Director, Relief Veterinarian and Emergency Hospital Veterinarian for small animal practices and emergency hospitals throughout Central Florida during the past ten years.
Dr. Miller’s family includes two cats and three dogs; Punky Bruiser, Bella, Annie, Sonnie and Little Dave – all of which are rescue animals from hospitals he has worked at during his time in Florida.
